A: Arnica
As admitted beauty junkies we have a hard enough time saying no to the latest products, and an even harder time when there’s a great cause behind them. Yves Rocher launches its Arnica Essentiel Daily Moisturizer Hand Cream to support the Look Good Feel Better program throughout October. In support of women with cancer, $2 of each bottle will go to cause, which provides workshops for women with cancer, providing them with simple aesthetic techniques and tricks for their changing needs.
The cream is available for the month of October and retails for $4.95, at Yves Rocher stores, online and through their catalogue. -
B: Brighten and Correct
Swipe away dark circles with coverage that packs an arsenal of brightening and concealing power. Stila’s new Brighten & Correct Concealer is a mess-free and lightweight formula that combines an illuminating cream with a powerful corrector that’ll make you look like 8 hours is a normal occurrence (we wish!).
Available at Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutiques and Murale locations, $37. -
C: Chicago Uniform Project (Chi U.P.)
A spin off of Sheena Matheiken’s 2009 vow to wear the same little black dress (LBD) for an entire year, in order to promote sustainability, the Chi U.P. is a September initiative taken by Sarah Louise Braunstein whose 30-day challenge encourages people to wear the same LBD for a month, focusing on accessorizing and shopping their wardrobe.
Our producer Erica and her go-to girl Zara have themselves taken the challenge. You can follow their blog here and hopefully be inspired to revaluate your consumption, and your closet. -
D: Dickinson
From the Dragons’ Den to product maven, Canadian marketing heavyweight Arlene Dickinson has transformed her small business into one of the country’s leading marketing firms. With a new book, and collection of new products that range from wine to coffee to skin care, this calm and cool beauty seems to be great at taking her own advice.
We recently spoke with Dickinson from her Toronto office where she sounded nothing but calm and cool. Her book, Persuasion, is sure to inspire anyone to make a positive change in their personal, or professional life. You can check out her book and other offerings on her new site ArleneDickinson.com. -
E: Elixirs
The first time we tried a spray skin formula we were hooked. There’s something so refreshing about spritzing your face throughout the day that makes your makeup, and your mood, brighten. Dr. Nicholas Perricon’s Detox Elixir Hydrating Mist refreshes us while balancing moisture levels. Packed with vitamins A, C and E, it’s perfect to sit at your desk when the indoor heat starts to rip at your skin. Reduce redness, calm inflammation and avoid breakouts with a few spritzes when your skin's feeling parched. The feeling of tight and dry skin will soon become a thing of the past.
Detox Elixir Hydrating Mist, $32/4 fl oz, The Shopping Channel. -
F: FITE
Get great skin and fund a female entrepreneur with FITE and Dermalogica's empowerment program. Whenever customers purchase select Dermalogica products like the PreCleanse, Daily Microfoliant (an amazing rice bran exfoliator), or Skin Hydrating Booster, customers are asked to take the barcode and logon to FITE’s site to donate to a microloan. Each product provides $1 for a woman looking to start her own business somewhere in the world. You’ll be given an update when the loan is given out and can be updated on her progress. This collaboration seems nothing short of winning.
At select locations across Canada. -
G: Glasses
From Justin Bieber to Tyra Banks, celebs have singlehandedly made wearing glasses cool again. At TIFF this wear we met the folks at Wescan Optical whose line Kliik Denmark caught our eye. The classic frames in modern colours and materials make them a must-have for the jet-set, fashionable type. We’re lusting after this rose coloured pair for our next optometrist’s visit. With availability at over 1,500 retailers across Canada we’re, for once, happy laser eye surgery isn’t in our future.
Prices range from $220 to $270. -
H: Hush Puppies
When you think Hush Puppies the words comfort and casual come to mind. But one look at their latest collection and words like fashionable, luxe and smart start to swirl. We were pleasantly surprised at the number of perfectly on-trend pieces and swooned over a few pairs – especially the booties!
Our fave is the Auddie (shown) which comes in fall’s must-have shades of taupe, brown and black. With styles in both suede and leather, this lace-up wedge is the perfect mix of comfort and style. We can already picture them with a pair of rolled up riding pants or a fab fall maxi skirt.
The Auddie retails for $140. -
I: Industrielle II
We’re coveting some heavy duty hardware for fall and who else would we turn to than Lia Sophia? In the perfect fall colour – pumpkin – the Compass Ring, from their Industrielle II collection, will be perfect with our lace up boots, black fedora, maxi skirt and plain white T. With fans that range from Ashlee Simpson to the Kardashian sisters, these affordable baubles are perfect for that bohemian vibe.

J: Japanese Cherry Blossom
With Halloween products hitting store shelves sooner than ever, we’re more than happy to get our hands on the loot Bath & Body Works is handing out. Their Halloween Boo-tique includes this playful shimmer mist in their lust-worth Japanese Cherry Blossom scent. With three other scents, and a mess-free pump available, there’s no need to worry about getting glitter on everything you (or your kids) touch for the next day and a half.
Halloween Shimmer Mists, $7. -
K: KATI Tea Brewing
As temperatures start to drop we’ll be reaching for our hot tea more and more at the office and at home. Our over caffeinated body will delight in the addition of some milder herbs in the form of ginger, lemongrass and chamomile.
For our drinking needs we’ll turn to Tea Forté’s new KATI tea brewing system which allows for simple sipping with loose teas – an often messy feat. This double-walled ceramic cup comes with a sleek stainless diffuser which properly contains loose leaves and allows for quick disposal – no more spitting out leaves with each sip. With a collection of cozy patterns, and perfectly portioned leaf pouches, it seems the only thing Tea Forté’s overlooked is which chalet we’ll be bringing our cup to this fall.
KATI Tea Brewing System, $19.99. 15 pack of loose leaf tea, $14.99. -
L: Lush
When the sun and salt of summer wash away we’re often left with parched, sad looking skin. Containing antibacterial properties of tea tree oil with the energizing essence of grapefruit, Lush’s Tea Tree Water Facial Toner will unclog those sunscreen filled pores and awaken skin to a breath of fresh fall air. It’s perfect for spritzing after you wash your face, or for carrying in your bag for round-the-clock comfort.

M: Moment de Bonheur
The latest fragrance from Yves Rocher comes packed with enough roses to warm any girl’s heart. Perfumer Annick Menardo used roses young and old, combined with patchouli and cedar, to provide the base for this breezy scent. With fall’s leafy aromas and cinnamon-filled fragrances, Bonheur is a welcome, light touch – a moment of happiness.
Eau de parfum $59/50 ml spray. -
N: Nature
The season of nature’s biggest transformation lends some inspiration to the ‘Classic’ line from Thomas Sabo. Blending boudoir style with delicate feathers, these feminine pieces make our heart a flutter. The sterling silver pieces are the perfect addition to any fall look and will easily mix with your existing collection.

P: Pillow Boot
The Cougar Pillow Boot – a Canadian fashion phenomenon in the 70s – is back kicking down chalet chic doors across the country. With its iconic tan outer and red inner lining, there wasn’t a winter episode of That 70s Show that didn’t include a pair.
This fall, Cougar is launching an 11 piece Pillow Boot Collection that takes the distinctive look in a number of directions (read: tall, zipped and darkened). The pièce de résistance is a special limited edition update in the original warm tan leather (shown). Be sure to get your feet in a piece of hoser history.

R: Riding Boots
When it comes to fall, and winter, we Canadian gals get pretty cozy with our boots. With the potential wear factor around seven months, we’ve got a lot of time invested in what we put on our feet. Cougar’s riding inspired rubber and canvas boots lend a stylish, and more importantly functional, option to the mix. With a rubber outer (buh-bye snow and rain) and fleece lining (hello warm feet…heaven) these boots are fit for sub-zero temps. And opposed to some of their more expensive counterparts, these boots won't put you into debt.
