Hair Color-o-Meter
“Hair color should make you look more beautiful,” says celebrity colorist Louis Licari. The easiest way to tell if a new color flatters your skintone? “If you find yourself wearing more makeup to keep your new hair color compatible with your complexion, then you have picked the wrong shade.”PHOTO: JEFFREY MAYER/ WIREIMAGE(2) -
Tame Your Pretty Pony
“It’s taken years of work, but women have discovered how chic the minimalist look is,” says Jennifer Lopez’s hairstylist Ken Paves of his take on the modern ponytail. And although he’s definitely not talking about a sporty on-the-run style, the steps are just as easy. “Simply create a ponytail that is high at the crown and slick it back with a serum,” he says. To ensure your style stays flawless for hours, Paves suggests that you “finish off the look with a strong hold hairspray.”PHOTO: JASON MERRITT/ GETTY IMAGES -
MacGyver a Glow
Getting dewy skin like Rihanna's is all about skipping powders that will dull your glow--while still combatting shine. The secret? "Oil blotting papers, [which] remove the oils off the skin to give you the feel of freshly washed skin," says celebrity esthetician Renee Rouleau. In a pinch? "The type of paper used for toilet seat covers in public restrooms is similar to expensive oil blotting papers. Tear off a piece of this and press firmly on the skin. Voila!"PHOTO: DAVE M. Go DIY With Your Foundation
Create a clean natural looking glow like Selena Gomez’s by customizing your own tinted moisturizer. The process is quick and simple. Just “add a drop of aloe” to your foundation, says celebrity makeup artist and Vanitymark cosmetics founder Brett Freedman. “The new formula you’ve created will thin out and adds just a tint of color and enough coverage," he explains.PHOTO: JON KOPALOFF/ FILMMAGIC -
Try the Brooklyn Demi Bob
“Super chic, super sexy and super young,” is how hairstylist Ted Gibson describes the bob he created for Brooklyn Decker. Paramount to keeping this ‘do fresh and fetching are “the haphazard layers that I cut into it,” says Gibson. “Slight soft fringe and a little shorter in the back [are what] created ‘the Demi bob.’” Print out and bring this picture of Decker to the salon with you--and keep in mind Gibson’s essentials: the texture, length and shape are what make this haircut modern and chic.PHOTO: JASON MERRITT/ GETTY IMAGES -
Side-Sweep Your Bangs
There's no quicker way to change up your look than by trying a new part. To get your fringe to sweep perfectly like Reese Witherspoon's, keep your dryer and brush in sync, says Laura Boton, owner and head stylist at Sine Qua Non Salon in Chicago. “Blow dry your bang section flat out and downward from your scalp [trailing with] a boar hair bristle brush to smooth out any kinks."PHOTO: CHRIS JACKSON - POOL/ GETTY IMAGES -
Trade Up to a Chignon
“I always get asked by my clients how to switch up the look of a boring bun, but in an easy and effortless way,” says Eva Longoria’s hairstylist Ken Paves. “A loose chignon is a great style to wear when you’re not having a great hair day or have ‘second-day’ hair." The simplest way to create the look is to fake it with a hair accessory similar to Paves’s own Hairdo Style-A-Do. In addition to getting you out the door in record time, “it will add more volume to your chignon.”PHOTO: JAMIE MCCARTHY/ WIREIMAGE -
Camouflage Your Roots
If you dye your hair like Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence, then you know how quickly your natural hue begins poking out the roots. Save money by prolonging your trip the colorist without having to sacrifice style. “There are a lot of great little color pencils available to help blend in your roots between appointments,” says Laura Boton of Sine Qua Non Salon in Chicago. “I really love Bumble and Bumble’s hair powders for disguising roots. It’s available in a variety of colors, is water soluble and just needs a light spray to hide root color,” she says. “You can also play around with moving your part from one side to the other,” she adds. “A drastic side part is a great camouflage technique!” she says.PHOTO: MARCEL THOMAS/GETTY IMAGESRead More: Hair Inspiration Gallery: Curly Hairstyles Celebrity Looks: 'Girl Hot' Versus 'Guy Hot' Fall's 10 Hottest Hairstyles
