There’s been a lot of talk in the United States about improving school lunch over the last few years. First Lady Michelle Obama unveiled higher nutrition standards for schools in January 2012 with the passage of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. But is mystery meat now a thing of the past? Not according to these photos.
 
Dosomething.org, the country’s largest non-profit for young people and social change, invited teens to post snapshots of their school lunch. Users can then vote to “eat it” or “toss it.” These are some of the grossest “toss it” photos from around the country, full of sandwich patties of unknown origin, overcooked veggies and -- sorry, we just threw up in our mouth a little -- insects right in the food.
