Ink4Autism: Support 'Autism Speaks' With a Puzzle Piece Tattoo

Apr 4, 2012 at 12:35 PM Chime in now

Attention autism advocates: as you well know, April is Autism Awareness Month. This year, if you’re looking for a unique way to show your support while contributing to the cause, consider this: Ink4 Autism, a campaign that aims to help you do just that.

How?  By inking people with puzzle pieces, which signify the complexity of the disorder and the challenges faced in finding a so-called ‘cure.’

There are a handful of tattoo shops across North America offering discount rates on said tattoos, with part of the proceeds from each going to Autism Speaks, an organization dedicated to “changing the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders.”

In Canada, these shops have signed on, so far:
-Lost Anchor Tattoo Parlour in Oshawa, ON
-Lucky13 Tattoos & Piercing in Toronto, ON
-Red Dragon Tattoo Parlour in Toronto, ON
-Foxfire Tattoos in New Westminster, BC

If you want to participate, but don’t see your favourite shop listed, you’re encouraged to give them a call and ask why not.

Remember: you’re not limited to a simple jigsaw piece – get creative! Have yours designed any which way you want – something that symbolizes your personality and raises awareness. And don’t be scared to get a large piece – the bigger the tattoo, the bigger the donation.

What a unique, permanent reminder of your commitment.
