Instructions adapted with permission from Wilton

What you’ll need:

Box of cake mix
Mini ball pan or two oven-safe glass mixing bowls
1 ice cream sugar cone
1 container vanilla frosting
Food colouring kit
2 marshmallows
2 chocolate chips
1 licorice string
3 frosting piping bags

How to make it:

1. Bake the cake in the mini ball pan or two glass mixing bowls of the same size. After it cools, take out two cake halves and stick them together using some frosting. Place the resulting ball shaped cake on a serving platter.

2. Divide the frosting into 3 bowls, mixing the food colouring into each one creating green, yellow and purple frosting. Fill the piping bags with each colour.

3. Frost the whole cake ball with purple and create tentacles by piping onto the serving platter.

4. Attach the cone on top of the cake ball and frost it entirely with green frosting.

5. Take the last piping bag and frost the top of the cone, creating a tassel, with yellow.

6. Take stick a chocolate chip into each marshmallow to make the eyes. Attach them to the cake ball. To make the octopus smile, place the licorice string on the cake in a curve shape.
