Pantone’s Colour of the Year- Emerald
The design duo, Catherine + Davis, use colour very strategically. They believe that every colour carries its own special energy into a space.
“Green is the most abundant hue in nature — the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute “It’s also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity — no other color conveys regeneration more than green. “MASTERFILE
Brass, Rose Gold, and Textured Metals
You will see metallic home décor pieces popping up everywhere in 2013. Metals can have a shiny finish to reflect light and give a formal look to your room décor. When galvanized metal is left unfinished a rustic and worn finished is left exposed. “This is a great look for shelving, and accent trim on furniture and cabinetry,” says Halina Catherine of HCMD Design.ISTOCKPHOTO
For 2013, Halina and Melissa love the kitchen trends that include transitional styles, hidden appliances, European influences and frameless laminated cabinetry.
Reducing your environmental footprint is a trend that Melissa and Halina see continuing to gain momentum into 2013. Reclaimed materials, urban gardens and alternative heating sources are some of the big building and design trends.
