The final three models are put to the test with the pinnacle CoverGirl photo and commercial shoot at The Blue Door at the Blue Palace with photographer Nikos Papadopoulos. Lisa nails the photo but has a hard time coming off as sincere in the commercial; Allison once again has a hard time with the bright sunlight, while Angelea produces a terrific photo and delivers a stellar commercial.
As if Allison wasn’t having enough of a challenge with the sunlight, the next photo shoot takes place on a beach. Dujan Rejlin is their photographer and Valentina Serra is styling them. She puts them all in white bikinis and bleaches out Allison’s eyebrows. I’m surprised she didn’t completely blend in with the sand.
For the first time in Top Model history, all three of the finalists will be walking the final runway -- a theatrical one involving swimming in a pool and then being suspended in the air by a harness à la a high school production of Peter Pan. An added bonus is that the wind is blowing so hard they’ll be lucky if they don’t get blown off the stage.
Angelea – who can’t swim – manages to get herself across the pool without drowning. Allison swims the length of the pool in one breath, and Lisa gets all turned around and ends up at the wrong side of the pool. I’m not sure what this added to the fashion show, but it’s a good thing swimming skills don’t factor into the final judging.
And then, out of nowhere, it is announced that Angelea has been disqualified. No reasons are provided, she’s just gone. Well, then. Back to our regularly scheduled panel...
The final two, Allison and Lisa, who couldn’t be more different, are now going to be judged by their entire body of work throughout the season.
Allison is criticized for not having a strong walk. Also, while her CoverGirl commercial looks beautiful, it needs more “pop”. The panel likes that she is cool, weird, has a lot of fans, and inspires photographers. But will that be enough to beat out the loud, attention-craving Lisa?
Lisa has a terrific walk. Her commercial is fun but the panel thinks it’s too safe. She’s given props for being gutsy, a performer, strong, sexy and alluring. The only knock is that she comes off cocky – not unlike every person on the panel.
While I wish I could say Allison won, Lisa (centre) ends up being awarded the title of America’s Next Top Model All-Star. Always the bridesmaid, Allison, never the bride.
