Finally, it seems like all is right in the world: even Victoria’s Secret Angels need to work hard for their bodies.
Veteran Angel, Adriana Lima, has revealed the intense diet and workout regime she goes on before walking in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
The 30-year-old Brazilian beauty’s workout consists of jumping rope, boxing and lifting weights. She begins her training in August, then increases her sessions with her personal trainer to twice a day six weeks before the show.
"It's like they're training for a marathon," says Sophia Neophitou, the British fashion editor who is chief stylist for this year's show. "Adriana works really hard at it. It's the same as if you were a long-distance runner. They are athletes in this environment — it's harder to be a Victoria's Secret model because no one can just chuck an outfit on you, and hide your lumps and bumps."

Also helping hide those “lumps and bumps” is Lima’s all-liquid diet.

A nutritionist measures her body’s muscle mass, fat ratio and levels of water retention, and then prescribes protein shakes, vitamins and supplements to keep her energy levels up during the training period. During this time, Lima drinks a gallon of water a day.

Nine days before the show, she’ll drink only the protein shakes, then two days before, she’ll abstain from the daily gallon and “just drink normally”. Finally, 12 hours before the show, she’ll stop drinking entirely.
“No liquids at all so you dry out,” says Lima. “Sometimes you can lose up to eight pounds just from that.”
So, the next time you get VS body envy, just think of all the extremely hard work the models go through to make their bodies look “flawless.”
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will be taped this Wednesday in New York, and will air at the end of the month.
