Melissa McCarthy lives a very healthy lifestyle -- and wishes that her body would reflect it better. In the new issue of Good Housekeeping, the Oscar-nominated actress opens up about her weight issues, and reveals how she keeps up a positive self-image in size-zero Hollywood.

"Sometimes I wish I were just magically a size six and I never had to give [my weight] a single thought," the comedian admits. "But I am weirdly healthy, so I don’t beat myself up about it -- it wouldn’t help, and I don’t want to pass that on to my girls (Vivian, 5, and Georgette, 2)."

McCarthy, 42, who is married to Bridesmaids actor Ben Falcone, says that she doesn't want to bring home the endless dieting and self-criticism cycle that she sees in her friends.

"Pretty much everyone I know, no matter what size, is trying some system," she says. "Even when someone gets to looking like she should be so proud of herself, instead she’s like, 'I could be another three pounds less; I could be a little taller and have bigger lips.' Where does it end?"

It's especially frustrating for the health-conscious actress, who plays tennis, does Pilates, and abstains from soda and sugar. "I don't really know why I'm not thinner than I am," she says.

Even so, McCarthy has a whole lot going for her, including an Emmy-winning sitcom, a beautiful family, and a hot film career. (She's currently making the comedy Identity Thief with Jason Bateman.) So she makes a point of focusing on that, rather than dwelling on the superficial side of the business.

"You just have to say, 'It’s pretty damn good. I am right here at the moment and I’m OK with it. I’ve got other things to think about,'" says McCarthy.

Now, if you'll excuse us, we're going to go write that quote on all of our mirrors!
