Kristen Stewart: "I Apologize to Everyone for Making Them So Angry"

Kristen Stewart is still struggling with life in the public eye. After her make-out session with married director Rupert Sanders was splashed all over the tabloids this summer, the Twilight actress retreated from the world for a while. Now Stewart is back in the spotlight, doing publicity for On the Road -- and she'd like to make amends with her fans.

"It’s not a terrible thing if you’re either loved or hated," Stewart told Newsweek. "But honestly, I don’t care ’cause it doesn’t keep me from doing my s**t. And I apologize to everyone for making them so angry. It was not my intention."

The backlash against Stewart this year was intense, with even Will Ferrell (jokingly) and Donald Trump (obnoxiously) chastising her for cheating on boyfriend Robert Pattinson. She issued a tearful public apology to Pattinson, and by the time the Breaking Dawn - Part 2 premiere rolled around, they were back together. Stewart has now returned to being her very private self, refusing to answer direct questions about the scandal. But it's clear that the possibility of being photographed in another private moment has her pretty freaked out.

"It’s a little annoying having to be so compartmentalized. I go from box to box to box," she complained to Newsweek. "Like right now, this is so crazy ’cause we’re out at a restaurant."

Despite her concerns, Stewart is making an effort to return to normalcy. "I’m going out a lot more now," she revealed. "I was starting to get closed off and self-conscious, and I’m trudging forth into the world more often."

She's also trying to move on from her signature role as Bella in Twilight. "The only relief when it comes to Twilight is that the story is done," she said. "I start every project to finish the motherf**ker, and to extend that [mentality] over a five-year period adapting all of these treasured moments over four books, it was constantly worrying."

"But as long as people’s perspective of me doesn’t keep me from doing what I want to do," she added, "it doesn’t matter."
